Description

The Venezillo parvus is a small but fascinating tropical isopod, valued for its compact size, smooth armoured appearance, and excellent adaptability. Although less boldly coloured than some collector species, its subtle grey to brown tones and active nature make it an attractive addition to naturalistic bioactive enclosures and display colonies.

This species thrives in warm, humid conditions with a deep, moisture-retaining substrate rich in decaying hardwood, leaf litter, and patches of moss. Maintaining a humidity gradient with good airflow allows the colony to regulate its own moisture requirements. Like most isopods, they feed readily on decomposing leaf litter and wood, while benefiting from occasional calcium sources and protein-rich supplements to support healthy moulting and reproduction.

Venezillo parvus breeds reliably under suitable conditions, producing thriving colonies that are both rewarding to observe and effective as part of a bioactive clean-up crew. Their hardy nature and uncomplicated care requirements make them an excellent choice for beginners, while their small size and natural behaviour are equally appreciated by experienced keepers looking to diversify their collection.
