Description

Tliltocatl albopilosus , commonly known as the Curly Hair Tarantula, is a classic and much-loved New World species, easily recognised by its dense covering of curled, bristly hairs that give it a soft, “fluffy” appearance.

This is a terrestrial species with light burrowing tendencies, typically making use of hides, cork bark, or shallow substrate to create a simple retreat. It is often visible and makes an excellent display tarantula, especially for those new to the hobby.

Renowned for its generally calm and slow-moving nature, T. albopilosus is considered one of the most suitable species for beginners. While it can flick urticating hairs when disturbed, it is rarely defensive and prefers to remain still or retreat.

Feeding response is reliable, and growth is steady under stable conditions. This species thrives in a relatively simple setup with slightly dry substrate and access to a water dish, avoiding excessive humidity.
