Description

The Porcellio hoffmanseggi is one of the true giants of the isopod hobby, reaching up to 3 cm in size. With its elongated body, dark earthy colouring, and impressive scale, this species makes a striking display colony and is highly prized among advanced collectors.

They thrive in enclosures with excellent airflow, a strong moisture gradient (humid retreat alongside drier areas), and a deep, nutrient-rich substrate. Providing a steady supply of leaf litter, decaying wood, and supplemental calcium is essential for their health. Colonies reproduce steadily but not as quickly as smaller Porcellio , rewarding patient keepers with large, long-lived individuals.
