Description
The Ivory Millipede ( Chicobolus spinigerus
) is a large, impressive North American species known for its smooth, pale cream to ivory colouration contrasted by darker legs and head. Their substantial size and calm demeanour make them a popular choice for display and educational setups.
They thrive in deep, organic-rich substrate composed of decaying hardwood, leaf litter, and supplementary calcium. A consistently moist (but not waterlogged) environment with good ventilation is essential for healthy moulting and long-term wellbeing. As detritivores, they play an important role in breaking down organic matter within bioactive systems.
Hardy and generally easy to maintain, the Ivory Millipede is well suited to both beginners and experienced keepers seeking a large, visually striking, and reliable captive-bred millipede species.
