Description

The Helleria brevicornis is a unique and fascinating isopod, notable as the only European isopod species that lives in social family groups. Found in Corsica and Sardinia, this species is highly unusual in both its behaviour and care requirements, making it a prized addition for advanced collectors.

They prefer cooler, Mediterranean-style setups with a deep, moisture-retaining substrate, good ventilation, and plenty of decaying wood and leaf litter. Colonies grow slowly but can be very rewarding to observe due to their unusual group behaviour and long lifespans compared to other isopods.
