Description
The Cubaris sp. ‘Dwarf Ducky’ is a miniature relative of the ever-popular ducky types, prized for its compact size and charming facial patterning. Despite their smaller stature, they retain the rounded body shape and distinctive “duck-like” head markings that collectors admire.
They thrive in warm, humid enclosures with a stable moisture gradient and excellent ventilation. A deep, nutrient-rich substrate combined with abundant leaf litter and decaying hardwood is essential to support natural burrowing and feeding behaviour. As with other Cubaris species, consistency is key — steady warmth and humidity will encourage healthy moulting and gradual colony growth.
Due to their smaller size and slightly slower establishment rate, Cubaris sp. ‘Dwarf Ducky’ is best suited to keepers with some prior isopod experience. Once settled, they become a rewarding and highly collectible display species.
