⚠️ Shipping Update – Heatwave Delays

Due to the ongoing UK heatwave, we've temporarily paused shipping of all live livestock and plants to ensure they arrive safely.

The good news is that temperatures are forecast to drop significantly next week, and we'll be resuming dispatches.

Current dispatch schedule:

  • Orders placed 29th June – 5th July: Dispatching Monday.
  • Orders placed 6th July – 12th July: Dispatching Tuesday & Wednesday.
  • New orders placed from today: Dispatching from 27th July.

We've built up a large backlog during the heatwave, so we're bringing in additional staff and implementing a new workflow to get orders out as quickly as possible.

Description

The Begonia dracopelta is a rare and highly decorative species, prized for its unusual shield-shaped leaves that resemble dragon scales. Its foliage is often textured, with rich green colouring and darker veining, making it a standout feature in terrariums or exotic plant displays.

This species thrives in warm, humid environments with bright, indirect light. It prefers a consistently moist but well-draining substrate, along with good airflow to prevent leaf issues. Due to its specific requirements, B. dracopelta is best suited for terrariums, vivariums, or experienced indoor plant growers.

With its unique dragon-scale foliage and compact size, the Begonia dracopelta makes an excellent centrepiece plant for bioactive setups or specialist Begonia collections.
