Description

The Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro’ is one of the most iconic and striking isopod morphs in the hobby. Known for its vivid red, orange, and white markings on a dark background, it is often nicknamed the “clown isopod” thanks to its bold, contrasting colours.

This morph thrives in enclosures with a moisture gradient, but unlike many Armadillidium , it prefers slightly warmer, drier conditions with plenty of ventilation. Providing leaf litter, cork bark, and decaying wood will help colonies establish and breed successfully.

Highly sought after by collectors, the ‘Montenegro’ morph of A. klugii is a must-have display species that combines beauty with relatively straightforward care, making it suitable for intermediate keepers and above.
